Queen Elizabeth 1st
We are currently studying Elizabeth, she was an extraordinary woman. An inspiration to woman from then and still now, even her make-up, even her look was so powerful that we still now try to create it.
In this project I will be looking at her in whole, her life, her style, her make-up, her story and eventually being inspired and creating my own version of the famous Queen Elizabeth.
The Tudors didn't have the make-up we have today, they used other materials to use as make-up to create there style back then, such as the famous white skin.
Some of the materials they used to make make-up were:
- White Led and Vinegar, too create the very pale white face.
- Counseled (Crushed Beetles) used to stain the cheeks and lips red.
- Coal, to darken the lashes slightly.
All these products had there slight down sides, but the worse was the white led and vinegar, it eventually turned the skin grey, caused spots, aging to the skin, and more. Back then they didn't care about the side effects, it was always about appearances and being expected. The way you looked told the people who you were and how high up on the class status you are, the more tanned you were meant you were lower class because it meant you were outside working and that if you were pale you were inside not having to work for your money.
It always comes down to looks, looks were and still now everything. It's how your seen by other people, and its how you present yourself to society.
